Doomscrolling…

Join with me on a scroll into hell,

open your laptop,

or pick up your phone.

Select an app,

you know the ones I mean,

they pretend to entertain,

then suck out your soul.

A lot of it is harmless,

just innocent fun,

or so it might seem.

~

That photo of food,

a shared drink with a friend,

for some these are processed,

like a knife in the heart.

~

Every post that we read,

each photo we see,

a harbinger of doom.

~

They are better than us,

happier than me,

more successful than you,

better looking than us all.

~

It’s nonsense of course,

we are all sharing the pain,

that makes the few rich.

~

I hope we learn how to stop,

shut them down for a while,

find that peace from within,

and the happiness we crave.
