I Told You So…

I said that this would happen,

the love we had would not last.

That you’d become unhappy,

as our discontentment grew.

You said that we were forever,

I think you knew that wasn’t true.

We both wanted it to be that way,

but that’s rarely how these things go.

~

Let’s try and say goodbye gracefully,

remember that thing we once had.

Please don’t blame me for our failures,

and I won’t say that I told you so.
