Queuing…
Thanks to Anne Marie Coleman for the inspiration for this one 👍.
A fixture of life in Great Britain,
quite possibly invented here as well.
Along with talking about weather,
we do relish standing in a line.
~
Moaning about the pouring rain,
while queuing to buy some stamps.
Basically our favourite pastime,
especially when not wearing a coat.
~
We’ll queue overnight in the snow,
to be first through the door at the sales.
It’s well worth the flu and frostbite,
to get ten percent off a lamp.
~
Jumping the queue is frowned upon,
there are rules that must be obeyed.
You can’t save a space for your mother,
even if she’s one hundred and five.
~
If there aren’t any queues to be found,
we form our own in a flash.
Nobody knows why they’re queuing,
but they’re having a jolly good time.
~
Not those extra marital flings,
that cause our relationship splits.
It’s when someone says to their partner,
shall we leave early and beat the queues.
Here are some photos of British people queuing.

If you enjoyed this one and would like to buy me a coffee to keep me warm in a queue, you can do that here.

It’s so true, we do love a queue (a little poem of my own! 🤣)
Ah and who would have thunk! A great piece! Enjoyable as always!
